BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — The identity of the man suspected of shooting and killing Ada County Sheriff's Deputy Tobin Bolter has been released by the Coroner's Office.
65-year-old Dennis Mulqueen died of a gunshot wound to the chest Sunday morning just after midnight. He was pronounced dead at Saint Alphonsus after life-saving measures were unsuccessful.
Mulqueen is suspected of shooting Deputy Bolter as he approached Mulqueen's vehicle during a routine traffic stop. Boise Police officers responded to the scene after a witness called the shooting in and began performing CPR on Deputy Bolter.
CBS2 has confirmed that Mulqueen was wanted for a misdemeanor DUI charge.
Responding officers found Mulqueen's vehicle abandoned near the scene and soon caught up to Mulqueen where he refused to be taken into custody. Officers opened fire, striking Mulqueen at least once in the chest.
